the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, was at Sana’a International Airport when an Israeli air strike struck the facility, leaving a tragic toll of at least two dead and several wounded.

The WHO director was in Yemen to negotiate the release of its staff members held by Houthi rebels and to assess the critical health and humanitarian situation in the country.
However, his plans were abruptly interrupted by the bombing, which took place shortly after he and his delegation arrived at the airport.
Ghebreyesus expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and stressed that damage to airport facilities would delay their departure. “We will have to wait for the damage at the airport before we can leave,” he said, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.
The spokesman for the Yemeni Ministry of Health, Anis al-Asbahi, reported that the number of deaths from the attack had risen to four, along with 42 civilians wounded.
The Israeli air force tried to justify the action as an attack on infrastructure used by the Houthis, including facilities in Hodeidah and other coastal locations.
This incident highlights not only the complexity of the conflict in Yemen but also the risks faced by humanitarian workers in war zones.
